Keep Bouldin Wild - A Wildlife Challenge for Our ‘Hood

The City of Austin and the National Wildlife Federation are challenging neighborhoods to create homes for wildlife on their own personal property. As residents of Bouldin Creek, we are in a great position to perform very well at this challenge. Join your neighbors in taking the Habitat Challenge! As residents, the challenge is easy!

  • All you need to do is provide Food, Water, Cover and Places to Raise Young in your own property.
  • Then certify your property with the National Wildlife Federation at www.nwf.org/gardenforwildlife or with a CoA pre-paid application by November 15, 2010.
  • To get a pre-paid habitat certification application, contact the Wildlife Austin program.

As a neighborhood, we provide opportunities to participate in community habitat projects such as the West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt clean-ups and restoration days. These are posted periodically on our email listserv as well as on our website, www.bouldincreek.org.

Bouldin has a wonderful chance to win this contest and join the ranks of truly wild neighborhoods in Austin! As winners of this challenge, the City will provide a celebration for the neighborhood as well as individual prizes for contest participants. This year the participating property owners were each given a tree! So, join your neighbors in this effort and Keep Austin Wild.

For more information on the contest, please visit the Wildlife Austin program website,  www.keepaustinwild.com or call them at 512-327-8181.
